Our leadership structure is rooted in decentralised responsibility. The central leadership team's primary role is to provide robust support and empowerment to the leaders of each community hub. By continuously emphasising co-production and community feedback, we aim to curate solutions tailored to the unique needs of each community. This collaborative approach ensures our governance processes are transparent, responsive, and effective.

Founder

Abdirahim

Abdirahim set up Coffee Afrik CIC after 20 years organising communities and campaigning about housing injustice. He believes in systemic change and good trouble. Named as one of BBC1 Xtra's Future Figures in 2023.

Youth Services Lead

Mohammed

Mohammed supports over 100 young people every week at Coffee Afrik CIC's Youth Hub based at Attlee Community Centre on Brick Lane, one of the most engaged youth club in Tower Hamlets. Managing a team of 8.

Health Justice Lead

Amani

Amani leads on the delivery and coordination of workshops for the community on re-imagining health justice, as well as wellbeing workshops for women and young people. A model rooted in care, repair and liberation, through an equity and anti racism lens. Supported by Bashir and Mohammed, our Community Connectors.

Women's Hub Lead

Simeera

Simeera, a poet and artist, leads on capacity-building at our two Women's Hubs, providing guidance and advice to the women leading delivery and programming at the Hubs. Manages a team of 16.

Father's Lead

Abdishakur

Abdishakur supports men and builds a safe space at Coffee Afrik's Father's Hub, via the VRU's Fatherhood Consortium.

Governance and Capacity-building Lead

Francesca

Francesca supports grassroots organisations led by and for global majority communities. She focuses on focusing on co-developing sustainable structures for devolving power to communities.
