Our quarterly Listening Assembly is a space for community voices. No agenda. No set speakers. Just an open room, good food, and time to be heard.
We use these assemblies to shape everything Coffee Afrik does, the programmes we run, the campaigns we take on, and the way we work. Attendance has never required a referral or a form. Come as you are.
What to expect
The evening opens with shared food and informal conversation. From 7pm, we move into facilitated listening circles, small groups focused on specific themes chosen by attendees in advance.
Past themes have included: housing conditions on the estate, mental health support for young men, experiences of stop and search, and what community safety means outside of policing.
Everything heard in the room shapes Coffee Afrik's work. We publish a summary after every assembly.
Childcare and accessibility
Childcare is available on request, contact us at least five days before the event. The venue is step-free and accessible. Live interpretation can be arranged for Somali, Bengali, and Sylheti.
Food
There will be food. There is always food.
